Relationship
What does Nesting partner mean?
The partner with whom one shares house, bills and logistics — the nest — in a non-monogamous arrangement.
Definition
Nesting partner splits love from address. In polyamory not every bond lives together. Whoever shares rent, a pet and the pharmacy becomes the nest partner. The term tries to be descriptive, not hierarchical, though in practice it carries power (keys, routine, family). It lets cohabitation exist without pretending every love has the same logistics.
Origin
English from polyamorous communities, nesting as making a nest.
History
Blogs and non-monogamy books in the 2000s–2010s fixed the nesting / non-nesting pair.
How it emerged
The house needed a name that was not husband by default.
Usage examples
She is the nesting partner; the other bonds do not live there.
Nesting is not the same as primary, though they often coincide.
