In 2021 streamer YourRAGE yelled GYATT and paused the video; chat spammed the word until the shout itself was the clip. Kai Cenat carried it into mainstream Twitch and TikTok around 2022. From a shout it became a noun (a gyatt) and brainrot material. The backronyms invented later — girl you ate that — are folklore.
Origin
A stretch of god damn in African American English. Twitter already had gyat damn around 2009; Nicki Minaj sang the form in 2012. In June 2021 streamer YourRAGE yelled GYATT and paused the video; chat spammed it. Kai Cenat carried the shout into Twitch and TikTok (~2022–23).
